Happy 2016!

A very Happy New Year to you each! I hope you had a lovely holiday, whether you were able to travel or have a "staycation" here in Dubai.

I had a wonderful time at home with my family and friends in Florida and feel so grateful for my time there! My brother, Peter, and sister-in-law, Melissa, were able to come down from Pittsburgh for about 10 days, so we were all together as a family.

We had fun swimming, shopping, diving, baking, playing board games, watching cheesy Hallmark movies (and Star Wars), playing mini-golf, resting, walking the dogs at sunrise and sunset, going to the beach, and so much more. Everything was just perfect and my cup of happiness is definitely full.

On that note, it is my sincere hope that this next year of life will be one of your happiest and healthiest ones yet. I look forward to seeing you sometime soon!

PS. Here are some pictures of my holiday, if you're interested.
Our Christmas Eve candlelight service is a special and meaningful tradition.

Being with family is the best gift of all. xoxo
I just couldn't resist adding some holiday flair to our Golden Retriever, Keebler. Isn't she regal?
My mom taught me how to bake an apple and pecan pie on Christmas morning, all before opening presents! Yum.
Star Wars with the family...VIP style. It was first time enjoying a luxury theater and I'm now spoiled!
Mini-golf as a family is one of our favorite things to do. I actually got 2 hole-in-ones! :)

An Invitation from the Library...

Do you wonder how you can support your child as a reader?

One way is by reading aloud at home.

Please join us on

Tuesday morning, October 13, from 8:00-8:30 AM

in the library for a conversation about the importance of reading aloud at home.

Parents have such a crucial role to play in their children's literacy development. Through elementary school and beyond, reading aloud to your children supports reading and social skills and creates strong bonds.

Please come!

Happy Spring Break!

Dear Parents and Students,

I just want to take a brief moment to wish each of you a lovely spring break. We've all worked so hard these last 3 months and have truly earned this rest!

I want to also thank you for all of your tremendous support. Seeing you recently for our parent conferences was such a treat as we were able to have quality conversations about your darling and discuss ways to progress even further in our last trimester. After those two days of meetings, I honestly couldn't help but feel so thankful for such a wonderful class of students AND parents.

But for now, I hope you'll just rest, relax, and rejuvenate with your friends and family, wherever this holiday takes you. I'll be leaving to go to Florida on Sunday, right after an evening at the Dubai World Cup. I'll be returning on Saturday, April 11, so I may require some extra coffee on our first Sunday back.  :)

Until then, I will leave you with sincere love and hugs,

Ms. Laura
PS. NO TIES AFTER SPRING BREAK! Due to the warm weather that makes the wearing of ties particularly uncomfortable, students will not be required to wear ties after spring break. Please note that all other aspects of the dress code will remain in effect.

Here are some lovely pictures of the place I call home...
We love to snorkel in the Jupiter Inlet.
Seeing the Jupiter Lighthouse is always one of the things I love best about being home.

Going home also means, seeing these fur-babies (L-R: Max, Oakley, and Keebler). Oakley, the one in the middle is pregnant and will be giving birth around April 16. She is a service dog for New Horizon's, so her puppies will become service dogs, too!

And, of course, I will get to see my FAMILY!

This picture was taken in Dec. 2013 when we were all together in Dubai.
