Stellar Weekend Fun

Astronomers said the meteor showers such as Leonids and Perseids have been happening for hundreds of years, but Camelopardalids would be happening for the first time. The chunks of rock and material, left by comet 209P/Linear will burn up in the atmosphere to form shooting or falling stars.
The storm, Abdul Wahab said, would see dense outbursts of bright multiple meteors and provide in excess of 1,000 shooting stars an hour during the peak happening. Lowest expectation would be 60-100 meteors an hour throughout the night, he said.

The Book Fair Is Coming!
Dear Parents,
Our Spring Bookworm Book Fair is almost here! The students are looking forward to the opportunity to enjoy more wonderful books. A great time to stock up for summer reading!
Each class will have a scheduled time, so if you would like to attend the book fair with your child, please do so at their class time, or before or after school. A money envelope will be sent home with each child so that they can purchase books even if you do not attend.
The Book Fair will be open as follows:
19-22 May
Monday 11:00-3:30
Tuesday 7:30-2:00
Wednesday & Thursday 7:30-3:30
The average book price is around 50 AED, though some are more and some are less.
Teen/Young adult books: There are many great books, such as the Hunger Games and Twilight, that are intended for an older audience.Grade 5 students will have a spot on their envelope where parents can indicate permission for their student to purchase specific teen books, or permission to purchase any book, and sign.
Students without signatures will not be able to purchase teen books during their class visit.
Grade 3 and 4 students who are interested in buying these books need to come with their parents.
If you have any questions, please email Deborah Knight <d.knight_daa@gemsedu.com>
Happy Reading!
